When is Hope open? Top
The center is open year round except for the listed legal holidays:
- New Year’s Day
- Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.’s Birthday
- Presidents’ Day
- Good Friday
- Memorial Day
- Labor Day
- Thanksgiving Day and the Friday following
Additionally, we are closed for the following:
- One week during the Fourth of July holiday
- One week during the Christmas holiday that incorporates the following days: December 24-26th
- Up to 6 Staff Development Days (dates to be determined)
Center closing due to extreme weather conditions will be announced on TV News Channel 8 -WTNH, www.wtnh.com. If the center closes early for any reason, a parent will be contacted by phone and given at least 1-hour notice to pick up their child. Late fees will be collected for children left after the center is closed.
How old are the children served by the center? Top
We provide excellent, stimulating care for children ranging from 6 weeks to 12 years old.
What are the tuition rates and fees? Top
A non-refundable registration fee of $50.00, a Parent Advisory Council fee of $20 plus the first week’s tuition is due at the time of registration. Check out our Tuition & Rate page for weekly tuition charge.
When is tuition due? Top
Tuition is payable on a weekly, bi-weekly or monthly basis on the Friday in advance of care. A 15% sibling discount will be given on the lower tuition of the last child. Tuition will be collected regardless of holidays, vacations, illness, and center closings due to inclement weather or other withdrawals.
What are my payment options? Top
Parents can pay using check, cash, money orders or credit card online.
Does the center offer assistance with tuition? Top
Maybe. Hope receives donation from individuals that is used to assist parents. Donations are limited and assistance is done on a case-by-case basis.
Do you accept Care 4 Kids? Top
What about Military Subsidy? Top
We are approved to accept OMCC subsidy.
Are you accredited by NAEYC? Top
No. However the center uses the NAEYC standard to guide programming and operation policies.
Does the center provide meals or snacks? Top
Parents are required to send lunch for their child. The center will provide a healthy snack both morning and afternoon. Parents are welcomed to supply their own snack. Water or 100% juice will be served with such items as cheerios, crackers, and fresh fruit.
Parents of infants are to supply all baby food and bottles of milk/formula adequate for a whole day. All bottles will be stored in the refrigerator until used. Milk and all opened juice will be stored in the refrigerator. The staff will be responsible to check containers daily to ensure that all food is stored at the proper temperature. Snacks will be stored in sealed containers and kept in each classroom. Any unused portion of food or drink will be discarded.
Does the center provide diapers? Top
No. Parents are required to provide diapers for their children.
What is your staff’s educational background? Top
All staff has been carefully chosen for their commitment to and experience working with children. In order to ensure the highest quality of care, staff needs to be qualified or be in the process of becoming highly qualified in order to secure and maintain employment at Hope. Highly qualified means that in addition to a minimum of one year experience in a childcare or school setting, teachers need to have a minimum of a Child Development Associate (CDA) Certificate; lead teachers need a mini-mum of an Associate Degree and preschool, school-age and head teachers need a minimum of a Bachelors Degree.
Is your staff’s first aid/CPR trained? Top
Yes. All teaching staff is trained in First Aid, CPR, Epi-pen and the Administration of Medication.

What happens if I’m running late to collect my child? Top
Please contact the center and alert us, as soon as possible. Parents will be charged $20 for every 15 minutes that a child has not been picked up.
What if I have to send someone else to pick up my child? Top
A child will only be released to persons designated on the child release form. An exception will ONLY be made upon meeting the following criteria: An emergency that prevents designated persons from picking up child; AND verbal consent given over the phone in the presence of no less than two staff members, one of whom MUST be a supervisory staff. The designated person may not be a minor child. A picture ID is needed for proper identification before a child is released.
What is your policy for vacations/leaves of absences? Top
Each child enrolled on a full-time basis is allowed two (2) weeks vacation time per year. A child must be enrolled for at least six months before a vacation request may be submitted. Children are eligible for one week vacation time per six month enrollment. Parents must inform the Director in writing using the VACATION REQUEST form so that they will not be charged. Vacation time must be used in full week increment. Parents should give the Director at least two (2) weeks notice of their request for vacation time.
If parents are planning to be away from Hope for a substantial period and wish to reserve their space in the center, they may also apply for a leave of absence. Parents must inform the Director in writing using the LEAVE OF ABSENCE form and submit a payment of two (2) weeks tuition. One week’s tuition will be a non-refundable payment to the center to reserve the space and the balance will be applied towards payment of tuition upon the child’s return to the center. The maximum period of time that Hope can reserve a space is three months. If parents decide to withdraw their child during this period, they will be responsible for the total tuition accrued up to that period.
What if my child suffers from allergies? Top
Hope will make all reasonable efforts to protect children from exposure to foods, chemicals, or other materials to which they are allergic. All children’s allergies will be posted in the classroom and in the kitchen.
Is the Center closed when public schools are closed? Top
The center conveniently operates during most public school holidays. Please see our center hours for complete details of our hours of operation.
Is before and after school care available? Top
Yes. The center provides great care for our older children in the mornings and after school.
What about transportation? Top
Hope does not provide transportation. However, the New Haven Public School does transport school-age children to and from our facility.
Does the center have a summer program? Top
Yes. However, because of the high demand and limited spaces, our summer camp program will be made available only to students who are currently enrolled or have a sibling currently enrolled at Hope. Families who previously attended Hope will also be given first consideration to any unanticipated openings.
